Berkeley County does not operate the adult regional jail. WVDCR holds the ERJ and MCCJ booking, custody, release, and discharge records, while the Sheriff holds its own arrest, incident, warrant, and transport material. Courts and supervision offices answer different questions.

Written requests should identify the facility, booking range, person, and exact existing records.
Use the following route to avoid sending a request to an office that never possessed the document.
- For a released person or release file, use the Berkeley County search and records hub and send the document request to WVDCR.
- For parole, probation, home confinement, or Day Report status, use the post-release supervision contacts.
- For same-day release claims, follow the 24-hour fallback path; Berkeley County publishes no official recent-release feed.
